Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

 

Mary Magdalene stood outside the tomb weeping, because her love for Jesus was so great that she could not bear to be without Him. Even when the others had gone, she remained. Her heart would not leave the place where her Lord had been.

She kept searching and looking into the tomb, hoping to find Him. Even when she saw the angels, her heart was not drawn away, because she was not seeking anything but Jesus Himself. Nothing else could comfort her.

This shows how true love for Jesus keeps the soul steady and faithful. Mary did not give up or turn away. She stayed, she waited, and she continued to seek Him with all her heart.

And because she persevered, Jesus came to her.

So it is for every soul. If we truly desire Jesus, we must not grow tired or distracted when He seems hidden. We must remain faithful in prayer, in quiet seeking, and in love, even when we feel nothing.

Oh Jesus, grant us a love like Mary Magdalene’s—faithful, patient, and strong—so that we may seek Thee always and never turn away. Amen.
