Prayer Before Meditation

RECALL THE PRESENCE OF GOD; ADORE HIM

O my God, on account of my many sins and imperfections, I am not worthy to appear before Thee; nevertheless, although but dust and ashes, I dare speak to Thee, Who art infinitely good, and rich in mercy. I will call upon Thy holy Name; I will ponder upon Thy divine commandments, to make me alert and zealous to fulfill them faithfully and punctually. O Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, enlighten mine understanding, strengthen my will, that I may do and suffer all things in imitation of Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Grant, O God, that all my thoughts, intentions, and acts during this meditation, may be directed solely to the service and praise of Thy Divine Majesty. Amen.
